Services at Resolute Therapy

Individual Therapy

No one should need to go through anything alone. I believe that therapy should be a collaborative relationship between patient and clinician, from start to finish. Your goals are my goals.  I believe that you hold the solutions to your struggles. I am here to help you unearth those solutions and encourage you in putting them into action. I work with all ages performing individual therapy, including teens and adults.

Couples Therapy

Couples therapy can assist in strengthening an established commitment, healing from relationship wounds, such as infidelity or an emotional affair, or a place to gracefully and respectfully end a marriage/relationship and establish healthy boundaries for co-parenting. As a non-biased third party, I provide a safe space to allow you and your partner achieve your treatment goals, whatever those are. I work with all genders and sexual orientations and incorporate some individual sessions as needed.

Family Therapy

Often one family member will feel like they are the "problem" and made to feel that they are the only one who "needs to change." In family therapy, the whole system is the focus and catalyst for change.  I work with entire families, parent-child dynamics, and sibling dynamics, of all ages.  Family therapy allows everyone's voice to be heard and explore ways to assist the entire family in developing healthier communication, boundaries, and respect.

Children & Play Therapy

Because children’s language development lags behind their cognitive development, they communicate their awareness of what is happening in their world through their play. In play therapy, toys are viewed as the child’s words and play is viewed as the child’s language.  Story and pretend is the language your child uses everyday to make sense of their experience.  I help children use these same tools to confront tough problems like trauma, fear, and anger. I use play therapy modalities with children as young as 3 years old.  My approach produces happier, carefree kids. To learn more about the benefits of play therapy visit https://www.a4pt.org/

Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD)

Body Dysmorphic Disorder, or BDD, is a mental health disorder that involves sufferers having a disabling preoccupation with either a slight or perceived defect or flaws in appearance. This disorder affects both men and women and can be extremely disabling.  Sufferers are excessively self-conscious, tend to check their appearance repeatedly, and/or try to camouflage or alter their appearance because they see themselves as "hideous," "defective," or even "disfigured."  Due to the extremely painful preoccupation with one's appearance sufferers often subject themselves to needless cosmetic surgeries and treatments. Family, friends, and partners find themselves perplexed because they can not see anything "wrong" with the appearance of their loved one.  Regardless, BDD is a devastating, highly distressing disorder that interferes significantly with the sufferer's ability to function normally in society.

Whether you have BDD, or you have a family member, friend, or partner struggling with BDD,  It is hoped that you will find this website informative, compassionate, and helpful. More than anything, I hope you find your hope.

Support for Gender Non-conforming, Gender Expansive, and Transgender Children, Adolescents, Adults, and Couples

Gender dysphoria involves a conflict between a person's physical or assigned gender and the gender with which he/she/they identify. People with gender dysphoria may be very uncomfortable with the gender they were assigned at birth, sometimes are very uncomfortable with their body, and may long to transition to the opposite gender, or find comfort somewhere in between.  People with gender dysphoria may often experience significant distress and/or problems functioning associated with this conflict between the way they feel and think of themselves and their physical or assigned gender.

I help individuals who with gender dysphoria at any stage in their journey. Pre or post transition, during the transition process, and/or assist with exploring if transition is what they individually want or need.  I write letters of support both hormone replacement surgeries and gender affirming surgeries.  I work within the WPATH standards of care.

I also work with families and couples with whom a member of the system struggles with gender dysphoria and in which this struggle is leading to conflict in the family or couple system.

I have also founded Resolute Rainbows, a therapy group for parents and children who struggle with gender dysphoria, identify as gender non-conforming, or transgender.
